This is the story of our life, Story of our life so far Writing page after page, Trying to find out who we are. With the stroke of your pen, With a breath, it all began With a word you changed the narrative from darkness to the light. Every book it's own index, Every heart a second chance My story, your story, our stories live together as one This is the story of our life, Story of our life so far Writing page after page, Trying to find out who we are. And the joy of good news You know more than we ever knew In your light our fears and failures turn to something beautiful As the chapters unfold Our journey with you only grows My story, your story, our stories live together as one This is the story of our life, Story of our life so far Writing page after page, Trying to find out who we are. This is the story of our life, Mine and yours and everyone Bound together by God's love- That's how we know whose we are BRIDGE It's all we ever hoped could happen If we just let light shine Shine in to a bright and new tomorrow And a lifetime This is the story of our life Story of our life so far Writing page after page, Trying to find out who we are. This is the story of our life, Mine and yours and everyone Bound together by God's love- That's how we know whose we are

Sun was rising on that day The women went where Jesus lay But the stone on the tomb was rolled away And the place was filled with light That can only come from new life When our fears and doubts are cast aside What was wrong had finally been made right HEY! We are knocking down the walls That were built between us And kept us from each other For far too long So let the stones come rolling down Fear and doubt can paralyze Like those stones of our demise Only love can open up our eyes And when we roll those stones away Uncover God's love everyday Our lives will never be the same Because this grace is here to stay HEY! We are knocking down the walls That were built between us And kept us from each other For far too long HEY! We are children of our God Made to live together The darkness is the greatest Before the dawn And then the stones come rolling down MEN: Death nor life nor all creation Heavenly glory nor earthly powers Today, tomorrow will never tear us From the love of God WOMEN: Nothing ever Will get between You and me and All the love of God HEY! We are knocking down the walls That were built between us And kept us from each other For far too long HEY! We are children of our God Made to live together The darkness is the greatest Before the dawn So let the stones come rolling down

Rise up There's a light upon you You've waited so long Wake up Let the sun surround you You are the joyful people now When shadows chase all hope away May the love inside of you Illuminate the way We all are searching for the star Right here and now is where we are And all we wanna do is to shine your light Into the darkness and despair To fill his glory everywhere Let your brilliance brighten up this place With all of your radiance Lift up Lift your eyes and see the crowd All want to be with you Sons and daughters come from all around Like children celebrating The nations gather at your side Called to live out in the glow Shining so that we may know We all are searching for the star Right here and now is where we are And all we wanna do is to shine your light Into the darkness and despair To fill his glory everywhere Let your brilliance brighten up this place With all your radiance From the east - North South West We gather - We profess The dawn has - Arisen Just take a look around Won't you take a look around... We all are searching for the star Right here and now is where we are And all we wanna do is to shine your light Into the darkness and despair To fill his glory everywhere Let your brilliance brighten up this place With all your radiance

You have run the race, you have kept the faith You have been the light shining o'er this place And now it's my turn to walk in your shoes And I know that you'll be there Whatever road I choose So hold my hand, lift me up Let me drink from your cup Lead me on to the calm beyond the storm In your hope I believe Through your eyes I can see what's in store To open up the doors I want a life like yours I know that times will come When faith is hard to find Fears and doubts arise, wearing on my mind But Jesus walked before to show us the way So whatever things we face we'll know Your love is here to stay So hold my hand, lift me up Let me drink from your cup Lead me on to the calm beyond the storm In your hope I believe Through your eyes I can see what's in store To open up the doors I want a life like yours

Everything means an open book to you Everything's when you know me through and through When I rise and fall, you pick me up You're always there with me You know when I leave, when I come back A holy mystery Your ways, so amazing Your love, so sustaining woooooa..... One love, one hope unite us One hand to hold and guide us From the dawn of day to the setting sun You're everything to everyone everywhere The highest heavens, they hear your sounds of praise The depths of the world sing of amazing grace You shaped me whole, you gave me life I'm wonderfully made The darkness isn't dark to you The light is bright as day Your ways, I can't explain it Your embrace, I can't escape it woooooa..... One love, one hope unite us One hand to hold and guide us From the dawn of day to the setting sun You're everything to everyone everywhere So let our lives be just as yours Let our hearts open doors Reaching out and reaching in Welcome the stranger in May the God who knows us so well loves us till the end..... One love, one hope unite us One hand to hold and guide us From the dawn of day to the setting sun You're everything to everyone everywhere

I may speak with the tongues of the angels I may give my all away I may move the mountains with my belief But if I don't have love - If I don't have love... I can use my power for selfish gain Living like I wanna live I can die a martyr and a saint But if I don't have love - If I don't have love... I once couldn't see Now I believe, I believe In faith, hope And the greatest of these is love Faith, hope And the greatest of these is love, greatest is love When the world defines you by what you do Love will show you whose you are All a part of God's great family This is why we love, this is why we love Battles rage and lines are drawn in the sand Cause we learn to live in fear Love comes down with the promise of something new It's greater than the fear, love is greater than the fear Sometimes we can't see Lord help us believe, believe In faith, hope And the greatest of these is love Faith, hope And the greatest of these is love..

While working on this project one rainy Sunday afternoon, my ten-year old asks, "Dad, are you doing a greatest hits album?" I had to explain that I didn't have nearly enough the catalog - or demand - for that sort of thing. But it's awesome when your kids think you're worthy of it anyway.

This album is comprised of songs I've written and recorded over the years, specifically for retreats and conferences I've led music for. It's not always easy writing in a select pocket of theme and scripture; the never-ending search for that killer hook or words for the last stanza. But in the end, when you're standing in front of 300 or 600 or 1000 folks, and you step away from the mic and they keep singing, that's when you know that the song has become as much theirs at it is yours.

Maybe these songs will take you back to a retreat or conference I had the pleasure of leading music for, or maybe they'll lead you to form new experiences and memories. Either way, I hope you enjoy them. After all, they were written for you.

*************************

For over 20 years, Steve has enjoyed keynoting and leading music for a wide diversity of church retreats and conferences.

As music leader, Steve strikes a comfortable and consistent balance that encourages participation without becoming “performance.” He not only draws from the best of what’s typically called “praise music,” but has been known to incorporate, on occasion, a Coldplay or Mumford & Sons tune. Steve's repertoire follows a very simple mantra:
- Melodies that are singable,
- Theology that is reformed,
- Lyrics that are inclusive,
- Music that brings people together.
And no “Jesus-is-my-boyfriend” songs.

As a keynoter, Steve's messages are always less preachy and more conversational; drawing from a deep Biblical and theological well while utilizing contemporary images and creative tools. His keynotes are tailor-made to the age of the group he's speaking to - children, youth, adults, or all of the above.
